Markdown Converter

Convert between Markdown and HTML.

Markdown → HTML HTML → Markdown
Markdown cheat sheet
  • # Heading 1 · ## Heading 2
  • **bold** · *italic* · ~~strike~~
  • [link](https://…)
  • ![alt](image.png)
  • `inline code` · ```fenced```
  • - bullet · 1. numbered
  • > blockquote

HTML → Markdown is best-effort: complex layouts, classes, and inline styles will be dropped or simplified.

Input
Output
Quoted text
Pasted an answer with the draft wrapped in a blockquote? Take it out without the > markers.
Preview
Copies the rendered preview as rich text so it pastes formatted into email, docs, and chat — without the prose styling.

Type something on the left to see a rendered preview here.

Share
The URL below carries the conversion direction and your input.

Input is too long to include in the URL.

Share URL

Anyone with this link can read the values it contains. Do not use it for sensitive data.

Share as a document
A read-only page holding just the rendered document. Use it when the other person needs to read what you wrote, not edit it.

This document is too long to fit inside a link, even compressed.

Document link

Opens the Document Viewer. Nothing is uploaded, so whoever you send it to needs the link itself to read it.

Open document
Swap to edit this side?

The output is generated from the input. Swap directions so the current output becomes the new input, then you can edit it freely.

How to use the Markdown Converter

  1. Paste Markdown or HTML into the editor.
  2. Switch direction to convert either way.
  3. Copy the converted output.
  4. Any blockquotes get their own section, ready to copy without the > markers.
  5. Share it as a read-only document if the other person only needs to read it.

Frequently asked questions

Which Markdown flavor is supported?
CommonMark with GitHub-flavored extensions, including tables and fenced code blocks.
Does it support tables?
GFM tables convert in both directions.
How do I remove the > from quoted text?
Paste the whole thing in. Every blockquote it finds is listed under Quoted text, so you can copy one as plain Markdown, copy it as rich text for an email or a doc, or send it back to the editor as the entire document.
Is my content sent to a server?
No. The conversion happens locally in your browser.
Can I send someone the formatted result without the editor?
Use the document link under Share. It opens the Document Viewer, which shows the rendered page on its own, with no textareas and nothing to sign into.
